NCIEC -National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers : (from their website)
was formed and funded to address the national shortage of interpreters for deaf, deafblind, and hard-of-hearing individuals.
Five regional centers and one national center work collaboratively to change the way our field traditionally thinks of and provides education and professional development to sign language interpreters. We foster networks among all stakeholders in our academic, professional and consumer communities and investigate and disseminate proven approaches to teaching, mentoring, program administration, and consumer education.
California is part of WRIEC - Western Region Interpreter Education Center. Their website has lots of info.
The others are: Gallaudet University Regional Interp Educ Center
Northeastern University Regional Interp Educ Center
Collaborative for the Advancement of Teaching Interpreting Excellence
and the Mid-America Regional Interp Educ Center
