St. Catherine University is in Minneapolis & St. Paul, MN. The CATIE Center is one of the six centers working in partnership as the National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers (NCIEC). CATIE stands for Collaborative for the Advancement of Teaching Interpreting Excellence.

ASL Immersion 2010
Attend seminars on linguistics, classifiers, and medical vocabulary. Then work with deaf mentors to apply the skills and knowledge from the seminars to real-life, fun and educational settings.
Who Should Attend?
This program is designed for students who have completed at least 4 semesters of ASL and plan to enter the interpreting field. Working interpreters and recent graduates of interpreting education programs are also welcome to attend (but we encourage you to first check out the StoryBlend program). Instructional Program & Activities
Assessments will be conducted to identify areas for growth, and provide you with valuable feedback.
The morning sessions consist of classroom instruction on ASL Linguistics, and medical and technical terminology and classifiers. Afternoon sessions will feature fun activities with Deaf mentors.
For a true immersion experience, there will be no voicing allowed during this week!
